Lopez Island is one of the San Juan Islands located in the Salish Sea between the mainland of Washington state and Vancouver Island, British Columbia. With around 3,000 full-time residents on its 30 square miles, Lopez is a patchwork of fields and forests surrounded by a rugged coast. Located in the rain shadow of the Olympic mountains to the south, it enjoys a surprisingly dry, temperate climate. Because it depends on a somewhat unreliable ferry system to reach the mainland, it has remained relatively unspoiled (depending on who you ask). This website is a collection of images of its birds, wildflowers and all the rest of its abundant natural beauty. The images below show some of the locations where the photos were taken.
